Book Review: If I Could Keep You Little
I had the opportunity to review a copy of the book If I Could Keep You Little by Marianne Richmond.
I found the book fun and easy to read. My kids had it out and were reading it as soon as I got the package open. The illustrations are bright, fun, and cute. I shared the book with some of my homeschooling friends. We all agreed it was nice to see a book that not only expressed the fun of our children being little, but also looked on the bright and positive side of our kids growing up. It's those feelings of wanting our kids to stay little, but realizing how much we would miss if they don't grow up and make decisions on their own, that is conveyed so well in this book.
From the book:
"If I could keep you little,
I'd decide on matching clothes.
But then I'd miss you choosing
Dots on top and stripes below.
"If I could keep you little,
I'd cut your bread in shapes.
But then I'd miss you finding
'Hey! I like ketchup with my grapes!'"
This is a book that will be treasured.
I think it would make a great gift for an expectant mom or any mom for that matter!
If I Could Keep You Little is available at Sourcebooks and it retails for $15.99.

Cookies and More Cookies...Yum!
Cut-out cookies and shortbread nuggets are two staples of Christmas goodies that we make. I love cut-outs. I got the recipe for Cream Cheese Cut-out Cookies from a family I used to babysit for. They are fantastic! The shortbread nuggets are passed down in my husband's family. He HAS to have them, and lots of them! In fact, I made another double batch last night.
We also made fudge, pb fudge, toffee, and caramels. Oh, and Cocoa Ginger Snaps (but those didn't last long). Too many munchers in this house ;)
So, what Christmas goodies are staples in your family?
Merry Christmas!

Mama's Holiday Wish List Meme
Mama’s Holiday Wish List Meme
TodaysMama and GameStop are giving away a sleighful of gifts this holiday season and to enter I’m sharing this meme with you.
1. What is your holiday wish for your family?
I want my family to remember in the midst of all the rush and activity the reason that we celebrate Christmas.
2. What is your Christmas morning / Hanukkah Nightly tradition?
My husband, Brian and I are usually up before the kids and get Christmas music playing. We wait for them to wake up (or wake them up) to open gifts. Mid-morning we have a huge brunch.
3. If you could ask Santa for one, completely decadent wish for yourself, what would it be?
I would ask for a room that is only for my sewing, with a nice work area, and a design wall. Oh, and of course to have it filled with a wonderful stash of fabric!
4. How do you make the holidays special without spending any money?
We like playing Christmas music as much as possible and just spending time together.
5. What games did you play with your family growing up?
We played board games such as Yahtzee, Clue, Sorry, etc.
6. What holiday tradition have you carried on from your own childhood?
I have carried on baking cookies and goodies for Christmas. Brian loves Shortbread nuggets and considers them only Christmas cookies, so there are LOTS of nuggets made each Christmas season! That is a tradition we have carried on from his side of the family.
7. Where would you go for a Christmas/Hanukkah-away-from-home trip?
The only away from home Christmas trips we've taken have been to see family. I think staying in a cabin in the woods sounds like a great away from home Christmas trip.
8. Check out GameStop and tell us, what are the three top items on your GameStop Wish List this year?
This is easy for Brian to answer!! The top three things on the list would be:
1. DSi XL Red Bundle
2. PS3
3. XBox 360 250GB with Kinect
What's on your wish list?

The only thing I have on my Christmas list is for my children to be happy. It is going to be a slim Christmas so I am just hoping my children aren't dissappointed.
Have a great week!

I didn't make it to all of them, but I did make it to several. It was fun to see the variety of blogs out there. Even if they had the same theme, such as reading books, they were all unique in their style and personality.
There are so amazing bloggers out there.
Thanks to all the blogs that helped put the Holiday Gift Giveaway Hop together: Simply Stacie, Little Yaya's, My Wee View, and Stockpiling Moms.
Stay tuned for the announcement of our winners later today!
